Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a technique used to alter your state of consciousness from the awakened state (beta) to a deep internally focussed relaxed state (theta). In this deep relaxed state your subconscious mind is more open and receptive to suggestions that you are given. It’s the subconscious part of the mind that stores all your long term memories and being in this deep relaxed state also allows for unearthing memories that are blocked from the conscious mind and that are subconsciously driving negative beliefs and therefore negative behaviours.

Can I be hypnotised?

The hypnotic state is a natural state, one in which we all naturally drift in and out of at varying levels throughout the day. If you drive I am sure you will have at some point driven from one place to another without remembering the route, you have in these cases experienced a light form of hypnosis as your conscious mind has drifted off day dreaming and your subconscious mind, the part of your mind that stores your memories, beliefs and learned behaviours, is focussed on driving and has taken over, like being on auto pilot If you haven’t driven, you too will have experienced a hypnotic state, this occurs anytime you are so focussed that all outside stimuli fades out of awareness, perhaps when you are absorbed in a good book! In short Yes anyone can be hypnotised!

Can I be made to do or say something I don’t want to?

No. You are still in control whilst in hypnosis and will never do or say anything you are not comfortable with. Suggestions made are always to drive the outcome you decide you want and the mind will not accept suggestions that go against this.
